Tree work in Victoria varies in cost because every property, tree and situation is unique. The size of the tree, its location, how accessible it is, whether it is near hydro lines, and what happens to the wood all affect the final price. We believe in transparency, so this page explains what drives our estimates and how to get an accurate quote for your project.

| Service | Indicative price | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Tree Removal | Free estimate | Full removals across the Victoria area, from tight Vic West lots to open acreage. Crews dismantle in sections where a house, hedge or neighbouring garden is in the drop zone, and haul everything away. |
| Tree Trimming | From $245 | Crown thinning and reduction on the big-leaf maples, Douglas-firs and ornamental trees of Victoria's older streets. Cuts are made at the branch collar so the tree closes the wound properly. |
| Tree Pruning | From $215 | Structural and maintenance pruning for young and mature trees: crossing limbs, weak forks, clearance from roofs, gutters and driveways. Work follows recognised arboricultural standards, never topping. |
| 24/7 Emergency Tree Removal | Free estimate | Rapid response to failed trees, split stems and limbs hanging over a roof or driveway after a winter windstorm. The area is made safe first, then the hazard is dismantled and access cleared. |
| Stump Grinding | From $110 | Stumps ground below grade so the area can be turfed, planted or paved. Chips are raked out or left on site as mulch, and the ground is levelled before the crew leaves. |
| Full Stump & Root Removal | Free estimate | Complete excavation of the stump and main root plate where a foundation, driveway, pool or new planting needs clear ground rather than a ground-down surface. |
| Hedge & Cedar Hedge Trimming | From $60 | Cedar, laurel and mixed hedges cut back to line, sides tapered so light reaches the base. Clippings are cleared the same day, including anything that lands on the neighbour's side. |
| Tree Cabling & Bracing | Free estimate | Dynamic cabling for mature trees with weak unions or a splitting stem, installed after the structure is inspected. Chosen when keeping the tree is the reasonable and safe option. |
| Cedar & Conifer Dieback Treatment | Free estimate | Assessment and treatment of western redcedar and conifer decline: thinning crowns, browning tips and drought-stressed root areas. Includes irrigation, mulching and soil recommendations. |
| Garry Oak Care & Pruning | Free estimate | Careful work on Garry oaks, including deadwood removal, clearance pruning and structural assessment, scheduled to respect the species' sensitive timing and protected status. |
| Wood Chipping | From $95 | On-site chipping of brush from a trim, a storm or a clearing job. Chips leave with the crew or stay as mulch around beds and the root areas of established trees. |
| Deadwood & Branch Removal | From $85 | Targeted removal of dead, broken and hanging limbs from mature trees. A light, quick visit that cuts the chance of branch failure through the windstorm months. |
| Trees Near Hydro Lines | Free estimate | Clearance of branches contacting the private service mast and drop that belong to the property. The distribution network itself belongs to BC Hydro and only they may work on it. |
| Fruit Tree Pruning | From $135 | Apple, plum, cherry and fig pruned for an open centre and manageable height: water sprouts removed, crossing wood cleared, fruiting wood kept within reach for picking. |
| Tree Planting | From $195 | Species selection for this mild coastal climate, planted with proper root-flare depth, staking and mulch. Drought tolerance is a real criterion here, not an afterthought. |
| Lot & Land Clearing | Free estimate | Clearing building lots, opening field access and creating view corridors. Felling, extraction and stump work are coordinated in one mobilisation of equipment. |
| Tree Disease Diagnosis | From $95 | Inspection of the crown, trunk, root flare and surrounding soil to identify decay fungi, cankers and root problems, followed by a written recommendation: treat, prune or remove. |
| Arborist Report & Risk Assessment | From $125 | Written assessment of tree condition, stability and retention value, prepared in the format commonly required to support a municipal permit application or a development submission. |
What drives the price
- Tree size and height : A 10-metre Douglas-fir costs more to remove safely than a 5-metre ornamental tree. Height, trunk diameter, branch spread and root depth all influence labour time and equipment needed.
- Site access and obstacles : Trees in open yards are faster to work on than those wedged between a house and a fence, or rooted in a ravine lot with clay soil. Proximity to structures, fences, driveways and gardens affects crew safety and method.
- Proximity to hydro lines : If the tree or its branches are near BC Hydro's service entrance to your house, we follow strict approach distances and may need to coordinate with the utility. This adds time and care but keeps everyone safe.
- Debris removal and disposal : Chipping wood on-site costs less than hauling it away. Stump grinding is separate from removal. If you want the wood for firewood or mulch, that changes the scope and price.
